Hanseatic charm in a new look: the Hamburg neugraphit

It’s time to celebrate! STERNGLAS is turning eight this month, and what better way to honor the occasion than by introducing a fresh face to our beloved Hamburg collection? The Hamburg neugraphit is more than just a timepiece – it’s a nod to our roots, infused with a modern twist, and crafted for the community that’s stood by us all these years.

With the Hamburg neugraphit, we’re expanding this community-favorite series to include a sleek, contemporary design while keeping that unmistakable Hanseatic vibe. Available in both quartz and automatic movements, it’s a stylish everyday companion packed with thoughtful details that make a difference.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Refined design with attention to detail

The curved, satin-finished anthracite dial gives this timepiece a sleek and sophisticated edge. We’ve enhanced the design with bolder lines and larger numerals for easy readability, while the finely detailed outer minute scale ensures pinpoint accuracy.

The 42mm polished 316L stainless steel case offers a bold, durable profile, seamlessly paired with a double-domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal that protects the dial from daily wear and tear. True to STERNGLAS, it’s equipped with dependable 5 ATM water resistance, ready to handle whatever life throws at you.

When those fall evenings start to draw in, the Hamburg neugraphit really shines. Its different Luminova colors ensure that the dial remains visible in low-light situations, giving you perfect readability, no matter the time of day.

A piece of Hamburg on your wrist

A standout feature is the 4-fold screwed case back, showcasing a finely detailed engraving of Hamburg's city map, highlighting iconic landmarks such as the serene Alster lake, the vibrant Reeperbahn party district, the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district, and the bustling Landungsbrücken waterfront. It’s our way of bringing the spirit of Hamburg with you, no matter where life takes you.

For optimal comfort, a variety of straps are available to suit your style and occasion: classic vintage leather, elegant metal, or sporty nylon. The reliable quick-change system allows for easy and quick strap swaps.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.com and we will help you personally.

How is the movement maintained?

We recommend that you have your watch serviced every 3-5 years if it is used daily.

Since there are oils and resins in the watch that can dry out over time, they should be replaced regularly, otherwise mechanical abrasion or bearing damage can occur in the movement. Seals should be checked every 5 years and replaced if necessary, crown and barrel every ten years. This ensures that you will enjoy your mechanical watch for a long time.

You can have your watch serviced directly by our watch service or by one of our specialist retail partners in your area.

Did you know that... ?

... Hamburg and timekeeping have been closely linked for centuries?

In seafaring, knowing the correct time meant arriving at the right place at the right time.

By converting time intervals into longitude, distances to the home port or destination port were determined. This enabled sailors around Hamburg to navigate safely through the waters.
