Let's embark on the next adventure with the Hamburg Automatic Edition Argo.

We consistently receive requests for a colorful automatic watch. With the new Hamburg Automatic Edition Argo, you can now add a splash of color to your wrist. The limited quartz version of the Hamburg Edition Argo was sold out in no time. So, being quick pays off.

By the way, the special edition Argo owes its name to the ancient constellation "Argo Navis". In Greek mythology, Argo was the ship of the hero Jason and his so-called Argonauts, who set out together to retrieve the legendary Golden Fleece.

To ensure your watch becomes as faithful and reliable a companion as Jason's Argonauts, it runs on the super sturdy Miyota caliber 8215 movement.
So, the Hamburg Automatic Edition Argo is truly the perfect companion for new adventures and explorations.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

The award-winning classic as a colorful special edition

Inspired by navigational instruments from seafaring, the design of the Hamburg Automatic pays homage to our hometown. This special model was awarded the iF Design Award 2023.

The colorful limited edition of our classic is restricted to 1,999 pieces and is now available.

Edition engraving of the constellation 'Ship Argo' on the back

Even though you might have to forego the Golden Fleece, the Hamburg Automatic Edition Argo comes with not just one but two exciting strap variations, each lending the watch a completely different character.

The special edition is completed with the engraved visualization of the constellation 'Argo' on the case back. An individual limitation number distinguishes each new timepiece as one of 1,999 pieces.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

The engine on your wrist: the Miyota 8215

The Miyota 8215 automatic movement has been produced by the renowned manufacturer Miyota since 1977. Since then, it has established itself as robust and reliable in the watch world.

A 42-hour power reserve, hacking seconds and a date function make the mechanical movement a reliable companion in everyday life.

Ultra-slim metal or elegant leather strap?

The Hamburg Automatic Edition Argo is water-resistant up to 5 bars and effortlessly withstands even the strongest breeze. Available with an elegant Italian leather strap or the new SuperSlim metal bracelet, this timepiece features a quick-change system for easy band swapping without the need for tools.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

The Hamburg Argo in the press

"The typical dial structure of the 'Hamburg' has been retained but completely reinterpreted through a contrasting interplay of new colors. As a practical side effect, this also increases readability."

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.com and we will help you personally.

How is the movement maintained?

We recommend that you have your watch serviced every 3-5 years if it is used daily.

Since there are oils and resins in the watch that can dry out over time, they should be replaced regularly, otherwise mechanical abrasion or bearing damage can occur in the movement. Seals should be checked every 5 years and replaced if necessary, crown and barrel every ten years. This ensures that you will enjoy your mechanical watch for a long time.

You can have your watch serviced directly by our watch service or by one of our specialist retail partners in your area.

Did you know that... ?

...the constellation of the ship Argo was introduced by Ptolemy?

Later, the ship Argo was divided into three modern constellations by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille:

Sterncastle of the Ship (Puppis)
Keel of the Ship (Carina)
Sail of the Ship (Vela)
