A piece of Hamburg for your wrist

A stylish homage to Hamburg's historic warehouse district: the new Hamburg dark blue bronze with the Miyota 8125 automatic movement.

With the Hamburg dark blue bronze, we welcome a new member to the STERNGLAS family. The new timepiece is a charming combination of the popular predecessor editions bronze and coast. A special detail is the second hand in the shape of a buoy with Nemoto Luminova filling.

The result is a stylish homage to the historic warehouse district of our home city of Hamburg. Once the hub of world trade, the Speicherstadt is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

Tradition and modernity

In this special timepiece, the bronze-coloured case meets the satin-finished dial in sea blue. The iconic bronze colour is reminiscent of the red brick buildings of Hamburg's Speicherstadt warehouse district as well as shimmering ship propellers of days gone by.

Fittingly, the gently curved dial in deep blue gives the Hamburg dark blue bronze a maritime character. A symbol of the endless expanse and depth of the sea.

The skeleton needle hands and indices with noctilucent Nemoto luminova emphasise the technical character and enable precise reading of the time.

Immerse yourself in the history of the Speicherstadt

A real eye-catcher is on the 4-fold screwed back: the engraving of the Speicherstadt with the imposing bridges and the famous Elbphilharmonie in the background captures the spirit of the past and creates a link between tradition and modernity.

Built in the 19th century, the Speicherstadt is considered the largest historic warehouse ensemble in the world. Back then, goods from all over the world were stored, processed and transported onwards here.

With the new STERNGLAS Hamburg dark blue bronze, we invite you to discover this history together with us and continue it with your own. A story full of adventure and dreams.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

Moin! I'm Dustin Fontaine, Founder of STERNGLAS...

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

The engine on your wrist: the Miyota 8215

The Miyota 8215 automatic movement has been produced by the renowned manufacturer Miyota since 1977. Since then, it has established itself as robust and reliable in the watch world.

A 42-hour power reserve and a date function make the mechanical movement a reliable companion in everyday life.

Vintage Italian Leather Strap

The velvety soft interchangeable strap made of Italian vintage leather captivates with its striking cut edge and the two-tone 'pull-up effect'.

External influences allow the leather to mature over time, creating the unique vintage look.

Made with great care by our German partner leather manufacturer.

Easy strap change without tools

Thanks to the quick-change system, you can give your timepiece a new look in just 10 seconds:

1 — Slide the pin of the spring bar inwards.

2 — Pull the strap off the watch.

3 — Put on a new strap by sliding the pin inwards again and inserting the spring bar one after the other into the holes in the case.

Any questions left?

Can I order the watch with a different strap?

We will be happy to check whether we can realise your desired combination. Please contact us by e-mail at support@sternglas.com and we will help you personally.

How is the movement maintained?

We recommend that you have your watch serviced every 3-5 years if it is used daily.

Since there are oils and resins in the watch that can dry out over time, they should be replaced regularly, otherwise mechanical abrasion or bearing damage can occur in the movement. Seals should be checked every 5 years and replaced if necessary, crown and barrel every ten years. This ensures that you will enjoy your mechanical watch for a long time.

You can have your watch serviced directly by our watch service or by one of our specialist retail partners in your area.

Does the bronze coating tarnish?

No. The case of the Hamburg Edition Bronze has a colourfast PVD coating.
