A timeless piece of design history: the new Naos Edition Bauhaus III

The Naos Edition Bauhaus III is a modern interpretation of the Bauhaus ethos, where STERNGLAS embraces its principles and brings them into the year 2024:

1. An aesthetic blend of clean colors and shapes.
2. Durable materials.
3. Sophisticated craftsmanship at a fair price.

In other words: affordable luxury without the frills.
In line with the Bauhaus philosophy that STERNGLAS has always upheld: Good design for everyone.

Like all STERNGLAS models, the Naos Edition Bauhaus III features double-domed and scratch-resistant sapphire glass, as well as a robust case made of corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel. Inside, it operates with the reliable Ronda 714 quartz movement.

Worry-free thanks to sapphire crystal

We only use sapphire crystal for our timepieces. This type of watch glass is usually found in the luxury watch market.

For a perfect view of the dial, we apply a double anti-reflective coating to the sapphire crystal.

What exactly is sapphire crystal?

Sapphire is the third hardest transparent material in the world - after diamond and moissanite.

Curved sapphire crystal not only looks good, it makes the durable watch crystal even more resistant.

This makes it virtually impossible for your sapphire crystal watch to get scratched in everyday life.

The Bauhaus Timepiece for the modern era

The white dial with black hands and indices, along with its clean lines, epitomizes the simple elegance of Bauhaus. From business to casual, from work to leisure: this versatile companion for the modern watch enthusiast always fits the occasion.

A desire of the STERNGLAS community and brand new to the Naos collection is Luminova on the hands and dial, ensuring optimal readability even in low light conditions. In the Naos Edition Bauhaus III, the signature of Bauhaus is evident in every detail.

The red date frame on the front is reminiscent of the entrance of the Bauhaus school, the most innovative forge of art, design, and architecture of the 20th century.

Edition engraving with limitation number

The back of the case features a landmark in design history. The white engraving presents an exact image of the famous Bauhaus curriculum. Each glance at the limited model is akin to a journey through iconic design history.

This timepiece is an absolute collector's item with only 1,999 pieces – and it's unique due to the limited edition number. Keep in mind... Previous editions were sold out quickly.

"Form Follows Function"

The curriculum of the Bauhaus revolutionized art, design, and architecture education. Key subjects included painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, weaving, metalworking, and typography. The "preliminary course" taught fundamental design principles. Collaboration between workshops and exchange between students and teachers were central. Despite its short existence from 1919 to 1933, the Bauhaus had a lasting influence on the 20th century and remains relevant to this day.

One of the fundamental concepts of Bauhaus design is "Form follows Function." This approach also played a central role in the development of the STERNGLAS Naos. The Naos combines a clear, minimalist aesthetic with functional elements. Every detail of the watch, from its sleek case to the easily readable dial, was carefully designed to maximize functionality without compromising on form.

What our customers say about us

Why we make Bauhaus watches?

In your search for a classic and durable watch, you are faced with 2 alternatives today:

1. you can buy a watch from a luxury manufacturer for a very high price, or
2. a watch from a trendy brand whose quality is as short-lived as the trend that made the brand popular.

When I worked in a watch manufactory during my school days and was looking for a watch for myself, I realised that there would have to be a 3rd alternative.

3. Since 2016, we have been breaking new ground and developing timeless Bauhaus-style watches that will outlive trends and continue to give pleasure for many years to come. And all that at a fair price.

In the meantime, over 53,000 watch lovers are convinced of our mission and our watch design has received several awards.

How long does the battery last?

The batteries we use typically last between 2-5 years. We recommend having a jeweler or watchmaker perform a battery replacement.

Did you know that... ?

... the three basic shapes of Bauhaus - triangle, square, and circle - are not only geometric figures but also represent deep philosophical and aesthetic meanings? The triangle symbolizes dynamism and progress, the square represents stability and rationality, and the circle signifies unity and harmony. These forms were fundamental to the design concept of Bauhaus and significantly influenced its influential design aesthetic.
